I. Key Objectives and Purpose

This activity aims to strengthen academic and educational exchanges between Taiwan and Japan in dentistry. By participating in the 34th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society for Hard Tissue Regenerative Biology and presenting a research poster, the delegation shared Taiwan’s achievements in innovative teaching methods. The visit to the School of Life Dentistry at Nippon Dental University also provided insights into its campus environment and clinical teaching facilities, enhancing international visibility and laying the foundation for long-term research collaboration between the two universities and relevant academic societies.

II. Program Highlights and Implementation

The two-day exchange began with a visit to the School of Life Dentistry at Nippon Dental University to explore its curriculum, digital teaching methods, and clinical facilities, while discussing potential future collaborations.

On the second day, the delegation attended the 34th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society for Hard Tissue Regenerative Biology and presented poster P-12, titled “Ohaguro: Integrating Cultural Practices into Oral Histology Education.” The presentation shared the outcomes of using the ORID framework and the history of blackened teeth in teaching second-year dental students. The work received positive feedback from participating scholars and further strengthened academic and educational exchanges between Taiwan and Japan.
