I. Key Objectives and Purpose

This visit to Chiba Institute of Science (CIS) in Japan was conducted on behalf of the university to exchange Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) and promote academic and cultural exchange. Discussions with university administrators explored potential collaboration among departments. Through on-site visits and hands-on activities related to medical laboratory science, teaching facilities, faculty expertise, and academic research, the program aimed to promote interdisciplinary learning and international exchange.

II. Program Highlights and Implementation

In March this year, faculty members and students from the Department of Health and Medical Sciences, Faculty of Risk and Crisis Management at CIS visited our university and expressed interest in establishing long-term collaboration. This visit served as a return visit, with the following highlights:

  1. Campus Environment and Teaching Resources: Located in Choshi, Chiba Prefecture, Japan, CIS provides diverse educational facilities, including classrooms, laboratories, a library, a gymnasium, and student dining facilities.

  2. MOU Exchange Ceremony: University administrators from both institutions participated in the MOU exchange and university presentations, accompanied by student exchanges. The CIS president expressed interest in visiting our university next year, while the vice president proposed collaboration with our Department of Nursing. These proposals were relayed to the Dean of International Affairs for future follow-up.

  3. Pathological Slide Testing and Staining: Students conducted hands-on activities alongside Japanese faculty and students, experiencing AC Electric Field IHC technology, which reduces the traditional staining process from approximately six hours to 15–20 minutes. This provided insights into its potential to improve testing efficiency and support clinical applications.

  4. Visits to Other Departments: The delegation visited programs in health and medical sciences as well as aviation technology and crisis management. Hands-on experiences with an ambulance and a flight simulator broadened participants' understanding of different professional fields and provided valuable interdisciplinary learning experiences.
